Embroidery designer for Matthew Williamson

So as i mentioned i had the privelage of meeting Emma the embroidery designer for Matthew Williamson last friday, she was a great speaker and some of her embroidery designs and techniques used were much inspiring to me. She proved that embroidery doesnt need to be seen as this old fashioned aspect of fashion anymore...but this exciting, expensive and luxurious way of adorning a garment. Some of the samples and dresses from final collections were shown to us, to touch and to hold these beautiful garments was very exciting and inspired me maybe use some simple embroidery in my works. The talk also inspired me to try and relate my work back to my original starting points as much as possible, for instance; researching techniques and processes used in Africa to produce clothing and cloths, i really want to learn about how they do certain techniques without the use of technology - something we clearly take for granted. Here are some photos i took of the samples and garments at the talk.
